Part of what makes mobile homes great is in the name. Mobile homes can be transported from one location to another. Mobile homes can be transported just a few miles or can be transferred to an entirely different city or state depending on the owner’s needs. Don’t let the mobile aspect of the name deceive you. Moving a mobile home is a far from effortless job. Every Mobile home is designed and assembled in a factory with the intention of eventually being moved. However, transporting a mobile home still requires the experience of professional mobile home movers. At Garcia J. Contractors, one of our most routinely executed jobs in the Austin Texas Area is mobile home transportation.
What is involved in the process of mobile home transport?
Preparation- Remove Skirt
The first step is preparing your mobile home for mobile home movers to transport it. On the bottom of the mobile home there is a skirt that hides all of the external hookups. The skirt is the first part of the mobile home that needs to be removed.
Preparation- Remove Attachments
Once the skirt has been removed the next step is to remove all of the external attachments. This will include turning off and removing the utilities such as water, gas, plumbing, and cable connections. Anything that may be blown off by high winds; such as a cable satellite, should also be removed.
Preparation- Secure Valuables
Within the interior of a mobile home, anything valuable or unstable should be carefully removed or sturdily secured down in anticipation of the move.
Lifting
The mobile home can now be carefully lifted using a hydraulic jack system and hooked up to a heavy duty truck that will be transporting it.
Mapping the Route
Before the actual transport the driver must carefully plan out the safest route possible. Although the driver will be part of a moving envoy they will still have to drive very slowly, highways and roads can at times be difficult to navigate while maintaining control of a home that weighs a few tons.
Reset
Once the new destination has been reached the mobile home can then be reset on the new property. Any utilities or cables can be reattached.
Enjoy
The last step is to kick back and enjoy your new location, hopefully it will serve you and your family well for many years to come.
A mobile home transport should never be attempted by anyone that is not an experienced professional. A mobile home can be permanently damaged and rendered unlivable if an inexperienced individual attempts to take on this project themselves. Contact Garcia J. Contractors today if you are in the Austin Texas Area and in need of mobile home movers. We will safely and seamlessly relocate your mobile home to a location where you can continue to enjoy it.
